*A rep for MTV is denying Internet rumors that Kanye West was banned from tonight’s global telethon for Haiti.

AOL’s Popeater had reported that the outspoken raper was not invited to appear at tonight’s “Hope For Haiti” telethon because of his off-the-cue-card dis of President Bush during the live 2005 Concert for Hurricane Relief benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina. (Watch below.)

Popeater quoted a source as saying: “Kayne has to make everything about himself. He will do anything to steal the spotlight and, well, this night it’s just not about him.”

But MTV tells UsMagazine of the rumor: “That’s absolutely not true. We did reach out to Kanye.”

“Access Hollywood” reports that West didn’t respond.
