*If Marissa Jaret Winokur isn’t getting an airport beatdown from a contestant on “America’s Next Top Model,” she’s having her plum gig as host of Oxygen’s “Dance Your Ass Off” snatched away by – of all people – a former Spice Girl.

Melanie “Mel B” Brown was announced this week as the new host of the competition series when it returns this summer on Mondays, its new night.

“I think that Marissa was a fantastic host for the show and got great press,” said executive producer Dan Cutforth. “I think [Oxygen] found, in talking to the audience, that there was a portion that absolutely loved her and a portion that didn’t connect so much with her. And Oxygen wanted to find a host who really, really connected with their core audience, [who] grew up as Spice Girl fans and love Mel B.”

The first season featured 12 overweight contestants who competed to lose weight by learning dance routines.

Mel B., who danced off about 60 pounds during her run on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” said of the show’s importance: “I learned firsthand that dancing was the key to shedding off the pounds and keeping them off.”
