*TV One’s Roland Martin sits down with President Barack Obama for an hour-long primetime special airing Monday, Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Day).
“Living the Dream: An Interview with President Barack Obama,” airing from 8-9 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. ET, will focus on a host of issues of concern to African Americans, including education, poverty, the economy, jobs and unemployment, parental responsibility, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, al Qaeda, health care, race in America, and the controversial comments of Sen. Harry Reid as quoted in a new book about the 2008 campaign.
In addition, the special will explore the influence of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the president and how Dr. King’s lessons are still applicable in the 21st Century, as well as reflect on the historic nature of Barack Obama’s presidency.
Martin, meanwhile, is also preparing to release his third book, “The First: President Barack Obama’s Road to the White House,” on Jan. 20, which marks the one year anniversary of Obama’s presidency.
“The First” takes readers behind-the-scenes for a closer look at his interviews with both Barack and Michelle Obama for CNN, TV ONE, Essence.com, WVON AM in Chicago and the Tom Joyner Morning Show over the last two years.
