*Boxing trainer Roger Mayweather has pleaded not guilty to felony charges he beat and choked a female boxer at a Las Vegas apartment last August, reports the Associated Press.

Clark County District Court Hearing Master Kevin Williams on Thursday set a June 1 trial date for Mayweather on coercion, battery-strangulation and battery causing substantial bodily harm charges.

Mayweather, 48, faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted. He’s currently free on $13,000 bail, and his lawyer says he intends to file a legal challenge to the evidence and charges in the coming weeks.

The former boxer trains fighters in Las Vegas, including his undefeated 32-year-old nephew, Floyd Mayweather Jr.
