Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe and Larry Platt

*Hours before Sunday’s playoff loss, when things were still looking up for the Minnesota Vikings, the team apparently thought it’d be a hoot to invite “Pants on the Ground” singer Larry Platt to perform his original tune at a team meating.

The song from the 62-year-old “American Idol” hopeful and civil rights veteran became linked to the team after quarterback Brett Favre sang it following a playoff win over the Dallas Cowboys the week before.

Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe posted a picture to Twitter showing Platt posing with him and several other teammates during the Sunday morning meeting in New Orleans.

Hours later, it was more like “Favre on the Ground,” as the 40-year-old QB hit the turf hard multiple times during the team’s 31-28 overtime loss to the New Orleans Saints.
