Rapper Lupe Fiasco will embark upon a late-winter/early spring headlining tour in advance of his latest studio album, “Lasers.”
The Chicago-born performer kicks off the outing March 5 in Claremont, CA with Atlanta rapper (and Atlantic Records labelmate) B.o.B. serving as his opening act. The tour wraps April 20 in Peoria, IL. Tour dates are below.
“Lasers”–used here as an acronym for “Love Always Shines Every Time Remember 2 Smile,” according to the performer’s Web site–is tentatively set to drop sometime later this year.
Fiasco originally intended to release a triple album, “Lupe Fiasco’s LupE.N.D,” as his swan song from the recording industry, but the idea reportedly was nixed by Atlantic over contract-fulfillment issues, and Fiasco has indefinitely shelved the project.
The hip-hop star announced a back-up plan last summer, intending to release an album called “The Great American Rap Album,” but eventually postponed the release of that set in favor of “Lasers,” which continues to lack a firm release date from Atlantic.
