*Write One Publications, Inc. celebrates Black History Month in Chicago with a kick-off of the Youth Empowerment Workshop, State of the African American Family Panel Discussion and a book signing with Bernice Harris author of “Pull Your Pants Up and be a man!”

The self-help book geared towards minority boys provides a nine-step approach to a goal-oriented life. Actor Malik Yoba offers practical knowledge and wisdom in the foreword.

Author Bernice Harris, a long time resident of the Chicago Englewood community, says the idea for the book “came out of what I observe daily; young men standing on street corners, seemingly without goals or direction. I believe if they are given practical things to do, and if they apply these things they would make positive changes in their life.”

The book is featured in the Youth Empowerment Workshop. Harris was also just added to the State of the African American Family Panel Discussion on Feb. 9 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. EST.

Harris will be signing copies of “Pull Your Pants Up and be a man!” at the Borders in Chicago (1539 E. 53rd St.) on Feb. 20 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dialogue is encouraged and parents are encouraged to bring their sons.
