Boost Mobile, known for its unconventional marketing tactics has reunited the original cast of characters from the infamous 1985 Super Bowl Shuffle featuring the Chicago Bears, nearly 25 years after they recorded this pop culture classic prior to their Super Bowl XX win.
Given the recent growth of the pay-as-you-go phone market, Boost Mobile was determined to create a commercial that would definitely attract attention with its first foray at the Super Bowl.
The original 1985 Super Bowl Shuffle featured players from the Chicago Bears. Determined to skew to a broader audience base, Boost Mobile reunited original Shufflers Mike Singletary, Jim McMahon, Willie Gault, Otis Wilson, Richard Dent, Steve Fuller and Maury Buford for their iconic Super Bowl rap. Before the era of big budget music videos, The Super Bowl Shuffle featured burly football players, rapping, playing cow bells and dancing their way into history, on to the Billboard Charts and even receiving a Grammy nomination.
The original crew reunited for an updated music video parody of their iconic trash talking song. In addition to bringing back the original crew, legendary coach Mike Ditka also makes a special cameo appearance. The new 2010 version of the Super Bowl Shuffle also included a special ringtone available for download with the proceeds going to charity.
