*Sade promoted today’s release of her new album “Soldier of Love” by performing the title track on “The Today Show” this morning.

In a quick interview with host Meredith Viera, Sade joked that she’s been busy “staying ahead of the law” in the 10 years she’s been off the scene.

[In 1997, she was charged in Jamaica with dangerous driving and disobeying a police officer after failing to pull her car over, and then cursing out the cops when she was placed into a squad car. An arrest warrant was issued for the singer months later after she failed to appear in court. But the warrant was “stayed” when Sade proved she couldn’t appear due to the hospitalization of her child.]

Sade went on to say she has been busy living her life, “doing what you do,” collecting experiences to write about. Watch performance below.
