*A resolution honoring entertainment titan Tyler Perry was scheduled to be proclaimed today by the Georgia state Senate, but the ceremony has been postponed, the Associated Press reports.

The 40-year-old New Orleans native and Atlanta resident is being praised for his achievements as an entertainer and humanitarian.

Five state senators are to present the resolution to Perry, the first celebrity to be honored in the chamber this session.

The resolution cites his gun-toting grandma character “Madea,” his creation of Tyler Perry Studios as the first independent movie studio of its size in the state and his donations to area food banks and various charities.
