Healthcare Problems May Force Obama to Delay Asian Trip Again

*Politico is reporting that President Obama may have to put his trip to Indonesia, Guam, and Australia on hold again:

Several lawmakers tell the site that Obama’s trip, which he already delayed from Friday to Monday so he could continue to fight for health-care reform, is interfering with their plans again, especially after the Democratic House Whip James Clyburn said the vote might not place until Easter or after.

“This trip is really getting in the way of things,” says one anonymous congressman. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, however, disputed Clyburn’s timeline, saying his “expectation is that we will do healthcare reform later in the week.”

Doesn’t matter. Most people have little to know idea what’s in the bill anyway. Democrats will support it. Republicans will not.

After a year of backroom dealmaking with democrats and republicans. The inept democratic party is now forced to used arcane measures to pass HCR. This “deem and pass” bs is just that BS.

Sorry azz Dems are afraid of their own Shadow. Obama lacks the fight to get it done right. He would rather cave in to pressure and go back to campaigning with the same tired message.

    • Co-sign.

He got caught between a rock and hard place by campaigning on progressive rhetoric, then opting to be corporatist in office. His version of HCR is his attempt to tow both lines, and he’s looked wholly inept as a result. He chose to surround himself with non-populists/ non-progressives at exactly the wrong time, when most of the country is pro-populist and believes in pro-progressive ideals. It’s tough being duplicitous in any environment, but doubly so in a hypersensitive environment like the country is in today, when people are looking for strong leaders to correct the huge mistakes of the past decade. They are not looking for line-towers, they are looking for heart. Oh well…the prez will naively chalk this HCR as a “victory” and move on to the next half-azzed effort.
