*Ultra-conservative members on the Texas Board of Education last week shook the nation when they voted to approve over 100 changes in the state’s history and social studies curriculum which many critics consider historically inaccurate, racist or right-wing propaganda.
The curriculum will now include increased references to whites and conservatism and less mention of liberal ideas, civil rights struggles and minorities.
Critics fear that since the Texas textbook market is so large the changes could be forced on school districts throughout the nation as book publishers scramble to produce textbooks which incorporate the changes.
The Texas conservatives say they were simply trying “to add balance” to the curriculum by including more conservative ideas and models. (source: Taylor Media Services – www.blacknewsjournal.net)

Do you really need to ask if it is racist? How in the world can you have TEXAS social studies and history books with NO MENTION of MEXICO? And lets not even get into black history and the civil rights movement- it does not exist in Texas anymore.
I will not be suprise at all if they start teaching George washington was at Jesus’ Last Supper and Adam and Eve had pet dinosaurs
