*The National Sleep Foundation last week released its latest survey on American sleeping patterns. The study found that Americans of all races fail to get adequate sleep; but African Americans get less sleep than any other major racial or language group.

Blacks average six hours and 14 minutes of sleep per weekday night. However, all other groups – whites, Hispanics and Asians – also reported getting between six and seven hours of sleep per night.

This is less sleep than recommended by the Mayo Clinic which says adults and senior citizens should average between seven and eight hours of sleep nightly. (source: Taylor media Services – www.blacknewsjournal.net)
