*David Mills – writer of “The Wire,” “Homicide: Life on the Street” and HBO’s upcoming New Orleans-set drama “Treme”— has died, according to HBO. He was 48.

Vanity Fair’s VF Daily column is reporting that Mills died Tuesday night of a brain aneurysm.

His passing comes on the heels of that of New Orleans musician and “Treme’ star Bernard “Bunchy” Johnson, who died of a heart attack on March 21.

“Treme” is set to premiere April 11. The series is set in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and is being filmed in the city. Watch a clip below.
