*Ask anyone who owns an iPhone and they’ll tell you they love everything about the device EXCEPT that it’ doesn’t multitask for the most part. Yes, you can talk and surf the web or do other things while you chat, but that’s about it.

Now the lack of true multitasking is about to change because iPhone OS 4 will allow iPhone users to multitask-as long as they’re using the latest version of the device.

Just double-click the home button and you’ll see a list of apps you can switch between. With iPhone OS 4 you’ll be able to use background services to play audio, make and receive calls, and use GPS location services. You’ll also be able to finish tasks like uploads and downloads in the background, and you’ll be able to put apps to sleep and resume them instantly.

Now the bad news. iPhone OS 4 will only work on the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G. Yep, that’s right, it won’t work on the two earlier versions, the 2G (the original version) and the 3G.
