*Black Entertainment Television has given the greenlight to the scripted series “Let’s Stay Together,” a relationship comedy that will be paired with the network’s resurrection of former CW sitcom “The Game.”

“Soul Food” veteran Malinda Williams and Bert Belasco star in the romantic comedy described as an updated, urban “Mad About You” that centers on the newly engaged pediatrician Stacy (Williams) and contractor Charles (Belasco) who take the absurd step of trying to blend their successful, independent 21st century lives into a traditional 20th century marriage.

Joyful Drake will play Stacy’s younger sister who has always been the more popular one and is used to living the high life. RonReaco Lee will play her lawyer husband who, inspired by Barack Obama, abandons his quest to become a big-shot corporate attorney in favor of a nonprofit legal aid gig.

Erica Hubbard will play Charles’ opinionated younger sister.

BET’s only other foray into scripted series was the 2008 comedy “Somebodies,” which ran for a season.
