Michael Jackson attends naming ceremony at Gardner Street Elementary School in Hollywood - Oct. 11, 1989

*An elementary school in Los Angeles has launched a Facebook campaign to put Michael Jackson’s name back on its gymnasium after it was covered up in 2003 amid his sexual molestation allegations.

Supporters want fans to download and sign a letter to the school district superintendent on behalf of Gardner Street Elementary School, where Jackson donated money and attended a naming ceremony for the gym in 1989.

Fourteen years later, school officials, acting on parental requests, decided to cover up Jackson’s name after he was arrested for investigation of child molestation.

The Facebook campaigners note that Jackson was acquitted of the charges and they want the name restored.
