*Republican Sen. John McCain’s daughter Meghan is speaking out against Arizona’s new immigration law, taking a different stance than her father.
In a column published at The Daily Beast, Meghan McCain, who often tries to position herself a spokesperson of sorts for young Republicans, called the new law “seriously flawed” and “essentially a license to pull someone over for being Hispanic.”
And McCain isn’t the only Republican coming out against Arizona’s harsh new immigration bill:
Several Republican leaders criticized the law on Tuesday: Florida Senate candidate Marco Rubio said it would “put our law enforcement officers in an incredibly difficult position”; Karl Rove said “I wish they hadn’t passed it” and predicted “constitutional problems”; Jeb Bush anticipated “unintended consequences”; while Senator Lindsey Graham became just the second Republican lawmaker to criticize the bill.
Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she had “some deep concerns with the law” and Attorney General Eric Holder said the Justice Department will review it.
