*Dr. Dre made two big announcements this week regarding his long-awaited third solo album “Detox.”

During an interview with CNBC to plug his Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, the producer said the project, originally due in 2004, will at last see the light of day by year’s end.

“I’m definitely putting an album out this year, finally, and I think everyone will be happy with it,” he said. “I’m trying to finish this record, finally get it done and get it out and start promoting it.”

Dre also said the set’s first single, a duet with Jay-Z titled “Under Pressure,” will be released in the next few weeks. [Story continues below.]

In other Dre news, the artist was at Boston’s Fenway Park for Sunday’s season opener against the Yankees to promote a new Red Sox version of his Beats by Dr. Dre headphone line.

Dressed in Red Sox gear, Dre hit the batting cages with the team before joining Interscope CEO Jimmy Iovine on the field to promote the product.

“To be very frank, we wanted a great team with a great fan base and a great organization,” Iovine said. “[When Red Sox chairman Tom Warner asked] ‘Hey you want to do something with the Red Sox?’ We were like, ‘Hey, they’re a great organization. Why not? Let’s try it.'”

The Red Sox headphones come with a price tag of $399.95 and can be ordered here: http://beatsbydre.com/products/Products.aspx?pid=B5872
