*”He said a Black man did it, but he shot himself. Lock him up! He lied!” That was the battle cry of community activists protesting in front of Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams’ office last Monday, demanding that Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Ralston be charged.
Ralston, a 21-year veteran of the force, last month, said he was shot by an unidentified Black man in the Overbrook section of the city. Ralston described his attacker as a young Black male with braids.
He later confessed that he actually shot himself — but not before that community was besieged with police looking for the phantom “African American” shooter.
Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said there is speculation that Ralston did it to get a transfer. (source: Taylor Media Services)
