*Reps for Grammy-nominated jazz saxophonist Boney James say he has canceled a show after being struck by a suspected drunken driver in Long Beach, Calif.
James was said to be driving home from a jazz festival in Newport Beach on Saturday when his car was rear-ended while he was stopped in traffic on the 405 freeway, reports the Associated Press.
Passers-by pulled him from the car. He was hospitalized with a fractured jaw, two broken teeth and a gash on his chin that needed 14 stitches.
He has been released from the hospital but canceled a Friday show in Columbia, S.C.
James is married to Lily Mariye, who played nurse Lily Jarvik on TV’s “ER.”
Yikes! Boney is one of my fave musicians. Surely this is not good for someone who makes a living playing a sax.
