*The South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation last week issued a statement which essentially compared Israel’s current treatment of Palestinians to the former apartheid system in South Africa when a white minority violently oppressed the country’s Black majority.

Specifically, the statement condemned new restrictions Israel has placed on Palestinian movement as “a gross violation of an individual’s human rights.”

As a result of its struggle against racial oppression, the now-Black-led South African government has been especially sensitive to international situations in which it feels racial or human rights violations are taking place.

Meanwhile, the U.S. human rights group Americans for Peace has also condemned the restrictions saying they could lead to the arrests of “an unknown number” of Palestinians living in the West Bank. (Taylor Media Services – www.blacknewsjournal.com)
