*Comedy Central is being controversial again; well that’s nothing new. While the network censors images of the Prophet Muhammad on “South Park,” a new series about Jesus Christ will be making its way on air pretty soon.
The show, “JC” will reveal the secret desires of Christ, trying to escape his powerful father to live a normal life in New York.
“In general, comedy in purist form always makes some people uncomfortable,” said Kent Alterman, Comedy Central director of original programming.
Critics are concerned the show may draw some negative attention; especially with the heat South Park has been getting lately for its edgy and perhaps offensive religious content. Recently, an Islamic website’s writers threatened the creators of the show for some controversial content. But Alterman says it is a bit too early to determine how people will react.
