*The National Coalition of African American Owned Media (NCAAOM) last week came out forcefully against the pending merger of cable giant Comcast with NBC-Universal.

NCAAOM denounced Comcast for what it labeled the company’s “non-existent carriage of 100% African American owned channels” on its nationwide cable system.

In a press statement, NCAAOM President Stanley Washington said, “Because of the enormous support the African American community has shown Comcast over four decades, we find it unacceptable that none of the 250 plus channels that are offered on the Comcast platform are 100% African American owned …” Washington went on to call for a boycott of Comcast because it failed to include 100% Black owned cable channels on its system.
