*Charging that single parenthood is “an epidemic” in African American communities, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies has released a report calling for a change in private and government policies which will increase the involvement of fathers in child rearing – starting with pregnancy.

The report was released by the Center’s Commission on Paternal Involvement in Pregnancy Outcomes (CPIPO).

In a statement, CPIPO said it aims to improve paternal involvement by “reframing debates and informing research policy and practice” to encourage and support involvement by expectant fathers.

Current studies show that 70 percent of African American children are born to unmarried women. (Taylor Media Services – www.blacknewsjournal.net).
