The Los Angeles Lakers hoist the 2010 Larry O'Brien Award
*Purple and gold confetti raining down upon him, Kobe Bryant hopped up on the scorer’s table, shook his fists and extended five fingers.
When he hopped down, Boston’s legendary Hall of Fame center Bill Russell was waiting to shake his hand.
A Game 7 classic – and this time, it finally went the Lakers’ way.
Beating Boston for the first time in a Game 7, the Lakers came up champions again after trailing in the last quarter of the last game of their season.
Kobe Bryant, the finals MVP, scored 23 points despite 6-of-24 shooting and the Lakers won their 16th NBA championship Thursday night, dramatically rallying to beat the Boston Celtics 83-79 in Game 7 of the NBA finals.
Bryant earned his fifth title with the Lakers, who repeated as NBA champions for the first time since winning three straight from 2000-02.
“This one is by far the sweetest, because it’s them,” Bryant said. “This was the hardest one by far. I wanted it so bad, and sometimes when you want it so bad, it slips away from you. My guys picked me up.”

It’s easy to win when the refs give you 20 free throws in the 4th quarter and the other team 4 free throws.
smitdawg, I noticed that too. Refs made too many bad calls in favor of the Lakers. Perhaps someone will expose payoffs at some point. ;-(

People get so mad when their team (I remember you said neither the Cs or Lakers were your team) isn’t competitive that they dislike to see another team get their shine. Testic…I knew you were gonna show up…anyways..I’m not bitter, I just call it like I see it. I saw just as much contact on both sides of the ball with both teams. But for some reason the Lakers got 20 and the Celts got 4. If you gonna give the Lakers 20, do the same for Celtics. But why are the refs involved in the first place??!! IT’S GAME 7 OF THE NBA FINALS!!!
They shoulda swallowed those whistles and let the players play. To allow the game, series, and the season to be decided by the zebras is a tragedy and a travesty. If I were the commissioner, I’d put an asterisk* next to their “banner” season. It’s just a sad way to win a championship… 
Of course I was going to show up. You were talking crap the other day just as I was. It’s all good. No beef here. One thing I don’t like is people blaming the refs. I don’t do that, even if my team gets the bad end of the stick. The refs control the game to an extent, but the teams have to put the ball in the bucket. With that said, *plays I LOVE LA*
But see… that’s the thing…the Lakers NEVER EVER EVER…get the “bad” or short end of the stick when it comes to the officials. You’ll never have anything to complain about ’cause you, the Lakers, the officials and the league will always have the game(s) in your pocket(s).

Why did y’all remove the arrows from off this section (Featured Front Page Photos)?
There was already a problem with this section, namely, you can’t tell at a glance all that’s featured. Over at the Grio, they have a similar section, but it has a side bar showing all the articles. That’s why folks hardly pay any attention to this section (OK, it got a few hits because of the Finals). But you usually don’t know what’s here, and now you can’t even click on the arrow to scroll thru.
Damn. it’s like y’all don’t even want folks around anymore. Ain’t nobody going to be sitting here waiting for this slow ass video to change.
EUR, I still don’t get y’all tactics, and I’ve been trying to figure out just exactly what y’all up to since January when this new page was launched. Look around, everybody’s gone. Can’t you guess why?
