*Los Angeles, CA – The Rancho Cienega Tennis Club (RCTC), the largest Black tennis club in Los Angeles, will host the 12th Annual Jackie Tatum Tennis Classic (JTTC) Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. Named after the first African-American General Manager of Los Angeles’ Department of Parks and Recreation, the Jackie Tatum Tennis Classic (JTTC) draws tennis players from all over Los Angeles County for three days of tennis playing.
A USTA sanctioned event, the JTTC features both adults and junior tennis players and will take place at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center of Los Angeles (5001 South Rodeo Blvd.), Jim Gilliam Park (4000 South La Brea Avenue), Edward Vincent Park (700 Warren Lane Inglewood), and the Challengers Boys and Girls Club (5029 South Vermont Ave.). The 12th Annual JTTC is supported in part by the office of 10th District Councilmember Herb Wesson. The event is open to the public to attend.

With 43 years of service, Jackie Tatum was the first African-American General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation. Jackie started her career as a Recreation Assistant and worked her way up to the position of General Manager.
Born in Kansas City, KA, Jackie received her BA in Physical Education from the University of Southern California.
During her tenure, she was named city employee of the year in 1992 and was the recipient of the Susan B. Anthony Award which recognizes outstanding business and professional women.

The Rancho Cienega Tennis Club (RCTC) was formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1957 by a group of dedicated African-American professionals and tennis players to provide an environment rich with activity for its members to promote a lifestyle of good health, community service, and opportunities to enjoy the game of tennis.
