*From Super Bowl success to super stardom in Hollywood, nothing prepared Rodney Peete and his wife actress Holly Robinson-Peete for the journey through autism that they would experience with their twin son Rodney Jackson, affectionately known as R. J. How they chose to handle it as a family is now the subject of two books that have spawned conversations among parents, siblings, teachers and classmates.

From the heart of a 16 year NFL veteran quarterback, came the Hyperion published book “Not My Boy! A Father, A Son, and One Family’s Journey with Autism.” In it Mr. Peete demystifies a father’s love and perspective of his autistic son and the residual challenges and victories that that family endures as a result. Meanwhile Mrs. Robinson-Peete teamed up with her 12 year old daughter Ryan to pen “My Brother Charlie.” It’s a beautifully illustrated children’s picture book about autism from the sibling’s perspective and published by Scholastic.

Now through their books and via the HollyRod Foundation, the Pete’s raise funds and awareness for autism, Parkinson’s Disease and other humanitarian efforts that improve the quality of life for those in need. Additionally the couple heads up the multi-faceted HollyRod Entertainment. A blended and balanced world of business, family and philanthropy have made Rodney Peete and Holly Robinson-Peete an obvious choice for a coveted 2010 McDonald’s 365 Black Award. The star studded event culminates McDonald’s commitment to African American culture and achievement 365 days a year. The awards take place at the Essence Music Festival, July 2-4, 2010 in New Orleans. Information on 365 Black is available at www.365Black.com.

Holly Robinson is best known for her roles in 21 Jump Street, Hanging With Mr. Cooper and One on One. She was featured earlier in the year on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice. Rodney is a former host of ‘Fox Sports’ ‘The Best Damn Sports Show Period’ and both he and Holly hosted a daily show on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio called “Meet The Peetes.” The couple has been married for 14 years and are the proud parents of twins Ryan Elizabeth and Rodney Jackson; Robinson James and Roman Matthew. The family resides in Los Angeles.
