*Real Men Cook for Charity in its 21st year was a huge success on Sunday Father’s Day at the Georgia Railroad Depot.

American Idol Winner and International Recording Artist Ruben Studdard thrilled the crowd of more than 2,000 as he sang “I Surrender All” and “I Need An Angel”

The new vegan who has lost 100 pounds traveled from his hometown of Birmingham Alabama to participate in Real Men Cook and brought along his wife Atlanta native Surata Zuri McCants and father in law Joseph McCants.

“Ruben was a major contributor to the best Real Men Cook event since we started having it here in Atlanta in 1998, said Diane Larche’, manager of the event.

“We also were able to bring awareness to health issues facing the African American community while celebrating A frican American men and the family on Father’s Day,” added Kevin Ashford, spokesman for Real Men Cook Atlanta. Some of the issues highlighted were Prostate Cancer, Alzheimers disease, Lupus, high blood pressure, heart disease and childhood obesity.  

More than 100 everyday fathers, professional chefs, caterers and restaurant owners participated in Real Men Cook this year.
