*Steve Harvey will host the 8th Annual Ford Hoodie Awards on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

The awards will celebrate schools, businesses and local leaders from across the country for the excellence they’ve demonstrated in the categories of Best High School, Best High School Teacher, Best Church, Best Church Choir, Best Soul Food, Best Barbecue, Best Fried Chicken, Best Car Wash/Detail Shop, Best Beauty Salon, Best Nail Salon, Best Barber Shop and Best Community Leader.

Among the luminaries joining Harvey for this year’s awards show will be Grammy Award winner rapper/actor Common, co-host of “The View,” Sherri Shepherd, nationally syndicated Fox Sports Radio host Stephen A. Smith, comedians David “Mr. Brown” Mann and George Wallace, actress/singer Tamela Mann and actresses Loretta Devine, Holly Robinson Peete, Victoria Rowell, LisaRaye and Tasha Smith of “Why Did I Get Married Too?” Additional performers and presenters will be announced shortly.

Established in 2001, The Hoodie Awards were created by Harvey to recognize the efforts that the stars of our neighborhoods are making in the cities and towns in which they live.

“I believe that we’re all created equal and it’s not fame or fortune that makes an ordinary person extraordinary, but it’s the things they do to help others and to uplift their communities that makes them special,” Harvey says. “And I am grateful that we’re able to bring all of these famous people together to give these very special individuals the recognition that they deserve.”

Additional activities scheduled during the Hoodie Awards weekend include the Hillshire Farm Freedom Friday Party (August 27th), the 5-hour Energy Midnight Comedy Jam hosted by Nephew Tommy (August 27th), and Ford’s VIP-Celebrity After Party (August 28th), as well as the Steve Harvey Charity Golf Tournament (August 29th) and the Charity Beach Party (August 29th), benefitting the Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men.

The Steve Harvey Morning Show sponsored by Outback Steakhouse will also be broadcasting live from the Hoodie Awards Weekend on Friday, August 27th and Monday, August 30th.
