*In a backstage interview with Rap-Up at the BET Awards, R&B singer Lloyd says he advised Chris Brown to open up his heart and shed tears during his Michael Jackson tribute in order to claw back into the good graces of the public.

“He’s back with a vengeance,” Lloyd said about Brown’s performance, which included a complete emotional breakdown. “I think that they’re gonna find a place in their heart for him again….I told him man, you gotta go up there, you gotta cry, you gotta really show your heart to the world and they’ll understand.”

Well, that totally undermines any attempt for authenticity from Chris Brown. I will say that I did cry even though I knew this was coming. I just wish this was not coming out now.
This doesn’t surprise me AT ALL. If there was any “authenticity” from Chris Brown with those tears, we would’ve seen it before the bruises healed on Rihanna’s face. Chris Brown doesn’t strike me as the crying type.
This story WILL have wings for a while. When asked for clarification, Lloyd will simply say, “What I said to Chris was that he needed to show some EMOTION because he hasn’t really shown much in the past.”
“…back with a vengeance?” Vengeance hardly seems appropriate here. Chris Brown is the one who made the boo-boo.

Agreed. I just don’t see what point Lloyd was trying to make by revealing such information. It totally leaves me baffled. Then again, Lloyd did seem sincere but not monitoring his words.
Of course he was sincere, because he actually thought folks were dumb enough to buy it, hook, line and sinker. So why not take some of the creds.

Stop with this nonsense, Chris did well last Sunday and I thought his tears were authentic. Lloyd has been irrelevant for a while now and this is his way of getting some shine. He is trying to backtrack now and says he did not make that statement. It is quite simple, people who want to support Chris will, those who don’t will not. End of story.
What I don’t understand is why chris brown is going through all these changes? R. Kelly is “Chester the molester” and he never lost his audience. All brown did was beat down a no singing hood rat. All he has to do is release a new record, these fools don’t care.

Hmmmm… I’m not going to call Lloyd a hater or say anything negative about him only that he’s not a smart dude when it comes to dealing with the media and his timing couldn’t have been worse. Yet, I still believe Chris was sincere in his performance; somethings you can’t fake that well… For those who choose not to believe him, refuse to NOT allow him to redeem himself and continue to want to see him pay for something he’s repeatedly appologized for then that’s your choice. There is no GOD in NOT forgiving or offering mercy when someones trying to find their way back from a mistake or bad, self-inflicted situation – yeahhhhh I went there! We’re such cynical nation these days… Geez! I say do you’re thing, Chris Brown!
But Chris Brown should have known that this was a dumb idea from the start. After all the missteps he has committed in his comeback bid, he should have learnt by now that the only thing he can do is give outstanding performances whenever he gets the chance to, along with staying out of further troubles.
Why didn’t they thought that folks would be suspicious and this would only makes things worse.
I’m going to get flamed for this, but you guys are nuts if you think Chris was crying for MJ. I think the tears were real and all, but he was crying for himself and his career. Nigga was crying harder than Usher and MJ’s kid at his funeral last year. LOL!
I agree with you Al. Chris was crying for himself and his career and perhaps a tear or two for his idol MJ also. At least now he finally gets it that it is not an easy road bakc to the top of the music scene. He still will have to work much harder to win over most doubters. The fight he and Rihanna had and subsequent beat down will just not go away as far as some people are concerned. What he did was so wrong but DV or dating violence occurs everyday across the globe. The way some people are behaving they want to make Rihanna a saint or something! Crazy! LOL.

I think the song “Man IN the Mirror” and his situation hit him all too hard on that stage and probably some relief that he is back on the BET stage since everyone has been shunning him as of late. I think the tears were real and I think he got all up in his feelings and got emotional. Lloyd cleared up his comments today and he said he basically told him to go out there and put all his emotions on his sleeve, if you feel like crying, then cry… but he cried too hard and too long for those tears not to be authentic. He couldn’t even sing – how can that be faked?
