*After a terrible shooting, which injured 10 young people, at the Black Expo Summer Celebration in Indianapolis, Mayor Greg Ballard expressed his contempt for the event.
No arrests have been made in regards to Sunday’s tragedy. Among the victims was a 10-year-old.
None of the injuries were fatal, however.
“As our community celebrates 40 years of having one of the largest African-American events in the country, we are saddened by the reported incidents,” Tanya Bell, Expo president, said.
The gunfire began around 9:30 p.m. Saturday near Circle Center mall. A second shooting occurred shortly thereafter. Finally, a third shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m.
Lt. Jeff Duhamell, police spokesperson, said that investigators are trying to determine if the shootings were gang-related.
