*If a dispatch out of ESPN is correct, the Dynamic Duo is closer than ever to turning into the Terrific Trio.
ESPN, the network that will air LeBron James’ long-awaited decision tonight, is reporting that James is leaning toward signing with the Miami Heat, where he would join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh and form one of the most ballyhooed Big Three in league history.
Actually, news of James joining Wade and Bosh in Miami was first reported by Stephen A. Smith last week. So if it really goes down, he should get the props for calling it accurately.
The announcement by Wade and Bosh, made jointly Wednesday on ESPN, already thrust the Heat among the favorites in the Eastern Conference, figuring they would add at least two more second tier free agents. If James, the Cavaliers forward and two-time MVP, joins his two friends Miami could be on the verge of a dynasty with a chance to win multiple titles.
“We would love LeBron to join Miami, who wouldn’t?” Wade said. “It’s no secret myself and Chris and LeBron are all good friends. We all came into this league together and played together (on All-Star teams and in the Olympics).”
As noted earlier, James will make his announcement from the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Conn., during an hour long special called “The Decision” starting at 9pm Eastern. Sales of sponsorship for the program will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.
