*In just six hours after New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul tweeted that LeBron James had joined Twitter under the username @KingJames, the account had surpassed 150,000 followers, outpacing the growth of other celeb Twitter users, according to the New York Times.

There is speculation that the NBA’s most famous free agent joined Twitter so that he could announce where he will play next season. but in fact, James will reveal his plans in a live prime time event Thursday night at 9 on ESPN, the network reported.

Last week, James met with the New York Knicks, the New Jersey Nets, his longtime team Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat. Now, they and everyone else will find out James’s highly anticipated plans.

Thursday marks the first day that free agents can sign new contracts that have been verbally agreed upon. Starting July 1, teams and players were allowed to negotiate, but not consummate new deals.

James has been the center of the sports universe for the last week due to NBA free agency. After creating his Twitter account Tuesday, it gained more than 85,000 followers before his first tweet, which stated: “Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building Finally.”

The New York Knicks all the way!

Major market team. He wants worldwide fame. If the Dolans spend to finally rebuild and support the team, he can finally start winning some titles.

He would shock me if he actually went to the Nets. Jay-Z may be his friend and all but, the Net will never be the Knicks. They just won’t.

He can show his hometown continued love by leaving his family there and living the there in the off season. He has his basketball clinics and philanthropic ventures there. They have no right to try to put it all on him about him saving the city. They need to save themselves. Let that man do what he needs to do for himself!

Lebron is trying to become a global brand and he needs to be in NYC and get the proper background roll players in order to do that.

I hope he can pull it off.

I think he can do all of that from Cleveland. He ALREADY a global brand. I hope he stays there for the city. I used to be a Knicks fan – for years – but they choked so much I couldn’t take it anymore. And when I mean years I don’t mean just one or two. I’ve been an Eagles fan for almost 20 years but I’m about to drop their azzes because they choke too d*mned much too. It’s like a bad marriage. You can only take so much disappointment before you walk away. :x

I can’t see the Knicks doing anything for him any more than Cleveland did. I think he should stay there. Cleveland! Cleveland! Cleveland!

  2. Brooklynbabe,
I say he could do alla that in Chicago. He don’t need New York. Plus, NYC or not, the Knicks aren’t even close to having a team that is ready to succeed with Bron. But they do have money to spend and lots of room under the salary cap. I’ll give ya’ll that.

Why would he want to go to Chicago and constantly be in Jordan’s shadow? The pressure isn’t even worth it. He needs to build his brand and elevate himself in a totally different setting.

If he wants to be the true “KING” he needs to set up his kingdom elsewhere.

There is always room for another statue in Chicago, but I doubt if LeBron comes.

Bosh and Wade unofficially in Miami??? :?: :?: :?: :!: :!: :!: TesticAl…I need your take on it…you ain’t worried about your Lakers are you??

    • TesticAl says:

smitdawg my man! *gives a pound* I think the Bosh and Wade thing can work. I don’t think Wade, James, and Bosh will work like others think. Those guys demand the ball and they are all young. I don’t see them sitting back to let the mext man get their shine on. Besides, it’s all about the dollar. No team can pay all 3 max money. I think James stays in Cleveland. Now about my Lakers. I’m not worried. They have been playing together for a while. You just add a few pieces here and there. They will be back in the finals. James and the others are not coming out West.

I was watching ESPN at lunch and Wade and Bosh are hoping that LeBron joins them in Miami —- I think James is already a Global brand and he is only gonna get bigger. If Cleveland wants him to stay, they need to get some folks on the team that will take them to the next level. They have been just missing the mark, now it is time for a re-org. I don’t want him to go to the Knicks and don’t see NJ Nets as a serious option…..

  7. TesticAl says:

queeniebunz, you’re my homegirl and all but I HATE FANS LIKE YOU! You abandoned the Knicks (not a Knick fan) just because they have been losing too much? Type of shit is that. Woman are so fickle when it comes to sports. Your team cannot win all of the time. You stick with your team no matter what! That way, when they get good again you will feel much better. With that said, when the Knicks do get better again you can not claim them at all. That’s the rules.

    • queeniebunz says:

Regarding your “rules” – You’re not the boss of me! LOL!

That said, the Knicks haven’t won a championship (’73) since before the BULLETS did (’78). I was not even a year old when the Knicks were last good, kiddo. “When they get good again” I will probably be collecting Social Security so I’ll go with your rules.

As for the whole following a team thing, I really stopped doing that when the “teams” became so transient that they stopped being teams. It used to be that a team stayed together long enough to BE a team. Now, it’s like musical chairs. Even kids on the playground at recess have more longevity as teams and they pick them new every day! The pro athletes in all the sports may as well rent and not buy homes when they move to another team because they don’t stay long enough to plant any roots at all.

So I’ll bounce around with my support of “teams” just like they bounce around in playing on these teams if I want to!…Cuz as I said – You’re not the boss of me!

      Love you, too baby! ;-)

      • TesticAl says:

LMAO at you’re not the boss of me! You still have to go by the rules. Just think of people who are fans of teams who have NEVER won! They still ride with their team. Why can’t you? You were too at least a year old when they Knicks were last good KIDDO! They went to the finals in 99. You weren’t born then? LOL!

I heard on TmZ today that he’s going to the Knicks………
