*”Come as you are,” is a common phrase the preacher says over the pulpit, welcoming in all those who want to know the Lord.

But are there limitations to this welcome? Does he really mean to come as you are? What if you are a convicted sex offender?

A group of church officials are currently dealing with these questions. Last month, a convicted sex offender was prevented from worshiping in a Jehovah’s Witness hall. In response, Jonathan Perfetto, who pleaded guilty to 61 counts of possession of child pornography, took it to court.

The point is, several church leaders are struggling to make a decision. What would Jesus do? But what would the congregation do?
