Sheryl Underwood Gives the Deuces to Tom Joyner

*Depending on your point of view, things are already looking bad in Black radio, and now it’s looking even worse.

That’s, because funny lady and the “dovely” Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. president, Sheryl Underwood said goodbye to the nationally syndicated “Tom Joyner Morning Show.”

The comedienne not only said good-bye to her long time outlet, but said hello to the competition with the “Steve Harvey Show,” which airs in 64 markets and has more than 7 million listeners. With her move, she’s made quite a few people upset.

“She has forever burned her bridge with the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Radio One and all of its affiliate companies,” a source told BV Newswire. “Unlike LeBron James, the way she handled things were unethical and she’ll likely regret it in the long run.”
“The biggest mistake was bashing Tom on Steve’s show,” the insider continued. “That just wasn’t good form at all!”

Although folks are saying she did a dirty deed, Underwood denies that she did anything wrong.

“I was just on Steve’s show to promote the clubs I was in various cities,” she added. “Even though I am no longer a contributor to TJMS I will continue to support Tom Joyner’s Take A Loved One To The Doctor, The Virtual College Tour and HBCU’s 100%…I said as much to Oscar Joyner in a very warm phone call. This new work with Steve,” she noted, “allows me the opportunity to expand my brand into different avenues. It’s the chance of a lifetime. It was an offer that I couldn’t refuse.”

Underwood will be missed and may be hated on while she transitions. Despite hurt feelings and sad faces, she is glad she made the move. Tom Joyner released a statement that seemed fairly diplomatic.

“We love Sheryl Underwood and wish her the best in everything she does. She’s a
very funny lady.”

What a lousy cow. Not very funny at all (IMO).

If this is Zeta’s queen then
Zeta’s are at the bottom of the barrel.

Yeah Go ahead and “red-strike” this comment and make my day!

I agree with you – I have never thought she was funny at all – she has her followers, but, i’m not one of them – I still miss TJMS here in L.A. – we got Steve instead……………….

  2. Grace12_34 says:

OMG, I am soooooo disappointed. I think Sheryl is HILARIOUS. I’m really going to miss her.

She’s not going to have ANY good luck with Pig Harvey though. Mark my words!!

    • ITA I think Sheryl is very funny. If anything Tom should of replaced Jay Anthony Brown with her.

      • Grace12_34 says:

She has had me laughing so much in the morning that I’ve seriously considered getting off the freeway in rush-hour traffic to finish listening to her and get myself under control.

  3. Very surprising. Won’t be listening to her anymore since my radio doesn’t go near the Steve Harvey Show. Wonder what she said about Tom on Steve’s show??

    • Grace12_34 says:

I despise Steve Harvey, but I might try listening online in the morning, just so I can hear Sheryl.

  4. MOTHERSHIP says:

I find this heffa loud and crazy. You don’t burn bridges.

    • Grace12_34 says:

That’s just her “act.” I saw her on The Mo’Nique Show one night and was shocked because she was quiet as a mouse and very poised. She never even did her act the entire show.

I co-sign about burning bridges. She IS going to regret it. Karma is a BITCH!

I tend to compare how the YT industry pits us against each other similar to how they would have us in pigeon matches, where each slave or black person would duke it out and the last man standing would get the purse. The purse is much larger, but YT is still pulling our strings. The mere fact that Steve Harvey and Tom Joyner cannot co-exist is a mere testament of this (can’t have 2 powerful black men at one time in radio) I heard of Steve doing some grimy stuff, but I cannot prove any of it, it’s just here-say in the industry. I am just tired of us always competing against one another instead of collaborating to uplift and unify each other.

    • Grace12_34 says:

Steve Harvey is a POS. If I had a million dollars, I would bet every penny of it that the “grimy stuff” you heard is 100% true.

Had I known he was SUCH a shithead, I would never have shown up to support him at the FYE on 6th Avenue, near Radio City Music Hall in New York.

My teenager took a picture of Steve and me with a disposable camera. To this day (and it’s been a little over 3 years), I have STILL not had that photo developed.

      What a POS he is.

He will get what’s coming to him one day. Karma is a BITCH.

And if Sheryl really DID bash Tom Joyner, then I’m mad at her!!! Tom Joyner is the epitome of class! The man has more class in the corn on his pinky toe than Steve Harvey has in his entire body!!!

  7. ceegirl1212 says:

Grace, I also supported Steve at the FYE on 6th Ave when “Don’t Trip…” first came out. I think he is hilarious, but could use a lesson in manners. It matters not to him how long you have to wait for his autograph. He would stop the line to talk to the various “industry types” who came to offer congrats for 5 and 10 mins at a time… in full view of the line. That gets a “fail” from me. When you stand on line for a celebrity autograph, you already know what it is. That having been said, it would be a kindness for the celebrity to respect the time of his fans as well.

  8. ceegirl1212 says:

I like Sheryl as well. I hope its not true about the way she left Tom’s show.

  9. Eagan8039 says:

I think it is sad how society is sitting back and judging this woman because of her own personal decision. If she wants to work for Tom Joyner, she has the right to. If she wants to work for Steve Harvey, she has that right also. The people are judging Lebron James for his own personal decision and he has the right to play wherever he wants to play and he owes the Cavs nothing; after all he gave them 7 years and now the man wants to win so he decided to make a move. Any human being who does not take a opportunity that looks brighter is not a very smart individual. You live and you live so give these people the opportunity to do whatever they want to do wherever they want to do it and at the end of the day they don’t owe anyone anything. I like her and I thinks she is a good comedian and I love to hear her and I support her and I wish her continued success.
