*An Austin, TX man with cerebral palsy and his video pitch for a travel show has received the most votes in the online portion of Oprah Winfrey’s competition to find a TV star for her new cable network.
Zach Anner won more than 9.1 million votes largely due to his popular audition tape that went viral on the Internet. [Watch below.]
“It feels unofficially wonderful, but you know anything can still happen,” said Anner, a former UT student.
As previously reported, the top five online vote getters will go to Hollywood with 35 others who were chosen during in-person auditions in cities around the country. From there, 10 will be chosen to star in a reality TV show that starts in January. Whoever wins the reality competition will get the opportunity to host a show.
“No matter what happens, we are going to do something that’s really fun and hopefully inspiring and silly,” said Anner.
Anner is shooting a few travel videos of his own while waiting for the official results from Oprah’s competition. He posted a YouTube video of himself sightseeing in Austin.
“I thought, ‘There’s only one place to start,’ and that is of course, the beacon of fun, the Texas State Capitol,” said Anner in the video named, “Zach Anner Rolls Over Austin Part One: Texas State Capitol.” [Watch below.]
