*Fantasia’s management has come forward to deny claims that she caused the divorce of Antwaun Cook, the married man she’s been seen with in recent paparazzi pics and alleged sex tapes.
“Fantasia is certain that she is not responsible for the deterioration of the Cooks’ marriage,” the singer’s manager, Brian Dickens, said in a statement.
Antwaun Cook’s wife, however, is adamant that the “American Idol” champ is solely to blame.
In her divorce petition filed last Wednesday, Paula Cook singles out Fantasia’s “covert adulterous affair” with her husband as the reason for their breakup, stating that Fantasia once told her over the phone, “He don’t want you. Maybe the next time that you get a husband you’ll know how to keep him. That’s why he is here with me.”
Cook claims that the affair began in August 2009 and that her “Husband and Ms. Barrino have at times recorded their illicit sexual activity.”
According to WCNC-TV in Charlotte, N.C., North Carolina is one of seven states where an alleged “other woman” can be sued. (Illinois, where Gabrielle Union was sued by Dwayne Wade’s wife, appears to be another.)
“Fantasia will weather this Storm with the dignity and grace that she has exemplified throughout a life in which she has repeatedly overcome obstacles and challenges,” continued her manager’s statement regarding the allegations. “Fantasia’s faith in God, herself and family remain as strong as ever.”
Meanwhile, Fantasia’s attorney Gina Morris told TMZ: “Mrs. Cook gratuitously included claims about Fantasia to sensationalize that litigation and to insure that her tale would be picked up by tabloids. The fact that she would seek such publicity in a case involving her children is particularly disgraceful.”
Antwaun and Paula Cook have two children, ages 1 and 4. Paula is seeking full custody, as well as child support and alimony.

DENY! all youwant Fantasia but the fact is you are dating a married man who is not yet divorced. When you found out he was still marrried how come you did not exercise some common sense and end the little affair or whatever you two were doing. You are just as much to blame as he is. What is it? is he so irresistable that you could not control yourself? Dang! you are only causing so much unnecessary problems upon yourself. Futhermore, why do some people tape themselves having sex in the first place? I think that is so stupid! you evidently run the risk of the tape getting lost or your lover decides to share it with the whole world and there it is. I think Fantasia has talent but truthfully, she would of been better off if she did not win AI because her career is not where she and her mgt thought it would be. She got tied down to the 19 entertainment way of doing things and that hammpered her not to mention and I will be kind here she does not fit the R&B/pop quuen image of sex appeal, beauty and all of that other shallow nonsense. I hope she gets herself together and learns from this debacle.

Babycakes, I routinely respect your comments and even here I am somewhat in agreement. I am a huge fan of Fantasia because of all she overcame and I think she is tremendously talented. That said, clearly her choosing to deal with a married man was a sign of poor choices and maybe some desperation. I, too, pray she gets herself together and soon… The blog aren’t go have no mercy on her with this one; she better brace herself. That said, I believe her winning the American Idol is something she truly earned hands down! The fact that she has a lackluster recording career is proprietary to just her – anyone who’s doing R&B these days are catching hell and they have the poor cd sales to prove it (i.e., Tamia, Kelly Price, Deborah Cox, Trey Songz, Erykah Badu, Lil Mo, Ruben Stoddard, Usher, Letoya and the list goes on).
I am with you I believe she earned the AI crown she was the best that year but,AI does not hav eht best track record for successas far as the winners and second place finishers goes. Mr Clive Davis said himself he would of signed Fanny to a record deal without AI if he heard her singing someplace else. I just thought she would of been better off from an artistic point in having a label sign her up and she could sing the type of music she wants to sing instead of trying to appeal to a fickle public of tweens and teens and 20 somethings who like the little cute pop queens etc. i agree with your comment on the state of R& B music and all but one on your list can really sing. If we weren’t going solely by what the wife reported, then I would understand your point.
However, we don’t know what pior events (if any) led to the divorce. So I’m not sure how you can conclude, absent any evidence, that the wife has a reason to be bitter.
Whatever the case, as a child, I would NEVER want to see my mom tell tales about my dad’s sex tapes..be it true or not.

@ mus I believe the primary reason for the mother outing the sex tape is legal. Adultery is a crime in NC and the tape is her proof. The information was recorded in legal docs, if I’m not mistaken, and not mentioned in a press release.

It’s not necessary to dismiss what the wife said. What we can do is criticize her actions which have been trashy to say the least. Being bitter does not give you a pass on being crazy. In fact, bitterness often leads to you acting like a damned FEWL..which she has clearly done.
Based on the photos, their relationship does not seem in question. What we don’t know is what led to its demise. Only the husband and wife know that for certain. So forgive me if I question what does not make sense to ME.
And no, having a baby, meeting another woman, falling out of love w/your current wife, all w/in the span of about a year, makes NO SENSE at all…even though strange things happen all the time.

There are 3 sides to every story: his, hers and the truth. Right now, we are only hearing the wife’s side of the story. We don’t know all the particulars except what has been told by the wife. That being said, it doesn’t mean that anybody condones someone breaking up somebody’s marriage. I’d rather wait and see how this situation sorts itself out.
