Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Sues Upper Deck over Bruin Pics

*Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has filed a lawsuit against trading card company Upper Deck claiming they used pictures of him from his college days after he specifically told them they couldn’t.

According to TMZ, the lawsuit filed today in L.A. County Superior Court claims The Upper Deck Company used six photos of Abdul-Jabbar as a UCLA Bruin on its “Greats of the Game” series.

Kareem, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points, claims Upper Deck had marketed the cards after he turned them down.

The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages.

  1. If you say a trading card company can’t use your image can you really sue? I really don’t know that’s why I’m asking. I know the NCAA also has rights to those pictures so I would think (I could be wrong) Kareem would have little say in this instance. Oh well. Should that not be the case, I hope Kareem gets all monies he is asking for.
