*Mos Def has been sued by a promoter who claims he took money upfront to perform at a concert, then canceled 24 hours before his scheduled appearance.

According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court and obtained by TMZ, the rapper was paid a $12,500 deposit by promoters REMG Entertainment for a Feb. 25 show at the Kool Haus in Toronto.

REMG claims Mos suddenly backed out of the concert on Feb. 24 and failed to pay back the upfront fee.

The company claims they are owed another $45,000 for “lost customers, sales, and goodwill” — and is suing Mos Def and his crew for at least $57,500.
