Obama Hoops with LeBron, D-Wade, Magic, then Barbecues

President Barack Obama jokes with Chicago Bulls players Joakim Noah (L) and Derrick Rose

*President Obama tested his basketball skills against several current and former NBA stars in a Sunday afternoon pickup game at Fort McNair in Washington.

The group included LeBron James, Grant Hill, Dwyane Wade, Joakim Noah, Derrick Rose, Magic Johnson and Bill Russell, according to reports. Kobe Bryant was also there, but didn’t play.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan also suited up for the all-star game, which took place before an audience of “wounded warriors” and participants in the White House mentoring program.

Reporters were shut out of the gym, because Obama “just wanted to play,” according to White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

After the game some of the players joined Obama and a group of his friends for a barbecue at the White House. The menu: shrimp from the oil-soaked Gulf of Mexico.

A small tent and tables decorated with sunflowers and yellow and white tablecloths were set up on the South Lawn for the event, which was part of the president’s 49th birthday weekend.

Alonzo Mourning, Derek Fisher, Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Maya Moore of the WNBA Connecticut Huskies were also in attendance.

Nice to see Pres Obama relaxing and having fun playing b-ball which it is obvious he loves. Looks like a good time was had by all. Now, just watch the critics especially the loud mouth Limbaugh have something snarky to say about this.

Mmmmm, I am no sports fanatic but looks like the President didn’t invite any non-black players to his birthday festivities.
So now the petty, small-minded rethugs are gone to call him racists….

bartholomew, *NO BEEF* I’m the type of person that takes things for what they are and relies on facts and proof. How did you come to that conclusion that there were no non- black players? Did you come to that conclusion because the players LISTED in this article are black? From that article, you don’t know if those were all of the players that were there. Things can misleading or left out purposely. Just look at the title and the picture for example. The title is HEADLINING LeBron and Dwyane, yet Joakim and Derrick are in the picture. I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just want to know how you came that conclusion. Thanks
