*A suspect in a series of stabbing deaths in three states was arrested Wednesday night at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport as he was about to board a flight, Atlanta police said.
Details of the arrest, including the man’s name, were not immediately known. However, a law-enforcement source told the Washington Post that the man was about to board a flight for Tel Aviv.
Authorities told the AJC that Michigan officials alerted airport authorities that the man was at Hartsfield-Jackson. He was intercepted at a gate but it was not known if he had passed through the security checkpoint in Atlanta or if he was changing planes and did not have to clear security here, authorities said.
APD was one of several law-enforcement agencies that cooperated on the arrest at 9:45 p.m.
“He was definitely trying to leave on a flight from Hartsfield,” police spokesman Carlos Campos said. “We’re strictly holding him for Michigan authorities.”
