Among the honorees, Ashanti Douglas (below) received the Spirit Theatre Award, Kenny Leon, who received the Trailblazer Theatre Award, and the Humanitarian Theatre Award was given to Isagenix for their efforts to aid victims of the Haitian earthquake disaster.

The awards night was also filled with action-packed vignettes including “Mr. Bojangles” starring Obba Babatunde, “Sarafina” which is produced by Wendy Raquel Robinson’s Amazing Grace Conservatory, “Chicago Club Rumboogie”, and “The First Wives Club” the musical starring Tony Award nominee Sheryl Lee Ralph. Ya’Know Ashanti almost looks like Sanaa Lathan.
I wish the NAACP would be more pro-active about that issue with Shirley Sherrod than presenting a bunch of “B-D” List Actors and Actresses with awards for basically damn near nothing.
Sorry I should be bigging up my folks, but really there are too many of these “shows” for my liking.
