*10 years ago, September 11th, BET created one of the greatest video countdown shows. Before that, urban fans just waited to see a hot R&B or hip-hop song on TRL. Now, it is the remaining evening music video show on television.

On October 5th 10 p.m., BET will premiere its special reunion show featuring past hosts who will speak on what it was like being apart of the most influential shows on live television. On the next day during its regularly scheduled time, the network will air another special, 106 & Park: The Celebration LIVE, where all the big names who appeared on the show will come back, including Mr. 106 & Park Bow Wow and a performance by Nelly.

Since 2000, 106 & Park has provided audiences and fans across the country with celebrity interviews, the hottest music videos, the biggest names in film and television and performances by the best entertainers in the business. Starting with iconic TV hosts AJ Calloway and Free, the show has made innovative changes to the entire BET Network in being the #1 Music Variety Show on cable for 13 consecutive quarters among Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.

It was also the best place to get a launch a career. “‘There are five things you need to do to be successful — Sign a superstar with a great image, have a great first single, get great word of mouth, get them on the radio and get them on ‘106 & Park’,” Kevin Liles said to Entertainment Weekly.

“Who would have thought that this little show that began September 11, 2000, with nervous producers and even more nervous first time hosts would turn into this highly successful, influential, game-changing daily energetic program about, from and to youth culture,” Stephen G. Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, said.  “We are proud to reflect and represent for our incredible audience that still, after over 2500 episodes, still fuels the show…for this show was built and still rests on the BET audience.”
