*The cheating scandal, suicide attempt, VH1 special and talk show tour of Fantasia Barinno in the past weeks have culminated in her new album debuting at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 chart.

“Back to Me” had first week sales of nearly 117,000 for the “American Idol” winner, according to Neilsen SoundScan, numbers only beaten by Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” album.

Fantaisa was the only “Idol” alum that made the Billboard chart’s top 40. Carrie Underwood, Adam Lambert and Daughtry also have albums in the Top 200.

Mandisa, though she didn’t make the Top 200, more than doubled sales of her “Freedom” album as the Women of Faith conferences started again.
