*After a four-hour long golf session with President Obama at Martha’s Vinyard, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters that the two talked mostly about the economy and golf, of course. But there have been a few whispers suggesting that Obama may be considering replacing his current economic treasury secretary, Timothy Geithner.
Insiders say multibillionaire Bloomberg, who was on the short list for the gig in 2008, has the star power and credibility to help Obama.
“It’s been the focus of a lot of discussion,” said one Democrat. “He’s very well-liked and well-respected on Wall Street.”
Bloomberg has been making some very insightful speeches in key states around the country, including Iowa and New Hampshire. Some are saying he is beginning to look like a viable independent presidential candidate.
