*Guess who hopped onto TV’s hottest (and perhaps whitest) show on Sunday?
Former 3LW member Naturi Naughton, best known for playing Lil Kim in the Notorious B.I.G. biopic “Notorious,” appeared in this week’s episode of “Mad Men” as a waitress at New York’s historic Playboy Club, circa 1965.
Her character, named Toni, is also the object of desire by the dutiful, humorless Lane Price (Jared Harris) – of ad agency Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce.
In Sunday’s episode, Lane brings his visiting father Robert (W. Morgan Sheppard) and co-worker Don Draper (Jon Hamm) to the Playboy Club to meet Toni while she’s on the job – in bunny suit and all.
“You know I love you, my chocolate bunny,” he says later when they’re alone. Toni reminds him not to flaunt their relationship while she’s in uniform, because she might lose her job.
Lane arranges a dinner outside the club so that his father and Toni can get acquainted without her bunny ears in the way, but when the three of them meet at Lane’s house before heading to the restaurant, Toni’s presence in the room only stirs the tension in the strained relationship between Lane and his father.
After Lane sends Toni ahead to hold their reservation, Lane’s father Robert re-asserts his demand that Lane return to England and settle his disaster-of-a-marriage. Again, Lane refuses, and his father suddenly smashes him across the side of the head with his walking stick.
Lane crumbles to the floor, with his glasses landing beside him. When he reaches for them, his dad’s well-shined shoe crushes Lane’s hand to the floor, demanding that Lane will do as he as told. “Yes…,” Lane finally moans.
“Yes, sir,” Lane says.
