*Again, Venus Williams is getting more attention for her outfit than her actual play – this time at the current U.S. Open in New York City.

The 3rd-ranked tennis star took the court Sunday (Sept. 5) in a short, tight, sparkly, pinkish red dress that frequently rose above her waist. Yet this time, her exposed undershorts were not flesh-colored, thus clearly understood to be undershorts and not her bare rear end.

“This outfit was supposed to be about New York. It’s like bursts of fireworks,” she said of her latest selection.

Williams won the match against 16th-seeded Peer 7-6 (3), 6-3 to reach the U.S. Open quarterfinals for the 10th time. Venus is scheduled to face Italy’s Francesca Schiavone today (Sept. 7) at 11 a.m. EST on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
