*Queen Latifah is among the handful of high-powered talent appearing on NBC’s upcoming season of “30 Rock,” the network announced Wednesday.
The rapper-turned-actress joins Matt Damon, Paul Giamatti and Rob Reiner in making special visits to the Emmy-winning comedy.
Latifah will appear in episode three as a Congresswoman demanding more diversity in NBC’s lineup. Giamatti, best known for the 2004 movie “Sideways,” will play a persnickety editor in the second episode, while actor-director Reiner will star as himself.
“Bourne Ultimatum” star Damon, who made a guest-appearance on last season’s finale playing Carol the pilot, will reprise his role in the premiere episode of the fifth season on Sept. 23.
One of the new episodes this year will also be broadcast live for the first time, in a throwback to many of the cast’s previous days of working on TV sketch show “Saturday Night Live” – including “30 Rock” creator and star Tina Fey and actor Tracy Morgan.
The live episode on Oct. 14 will be broadcast twice in the United States, one for each of the east and west coast time zones.
Sherri Shepherd will also return this season in her recurring role as Angie Jordan, the wife of Morgan’s character Tracy Jordan.
