*Rap star T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested on drug charges last night after police smelled alleged marijuana wafting from their vehicle, the AP is reporting.
The arrests for possession of a controlled substance occurred on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood during a traffic stop, Los Angeles sheriff’s deputy Mark Pope told The Associated Press.
“Deputies smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle,” the department said. “A narcotics investigation ensued” that resulted in the arrests.
The Atlanta-based T.I., 29, whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., and Cottle, a 36-year-old singer with the group Xscape, were booked at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station and bail was set at $10,000 each.
T.I., starring in the current No. 1 film “Takers,” is on probation after serving seven months in an Arkansas federal prison and three months in a Georgia halfway house on federal weapons charges..
The father of five was released in March and married Tiny in late July. His new album, “King Uncaged,” is due later this month.

I don’t think so. They mad because he was smoking weed in his Maybach! Not the smartest choice considering what he went through. Smoke ya weed, but damn, not where they can smell it. I think he and Tiny will be fined. If Paris Hilton can run around town with bags of cocaine and still be set free, I don’t see why not them.
@mothership you’re right but the difference is paris hilton is white & they can get chance after chance after chance after chance but TI & Tiny are black and they just love giving black people a hard time especially rich ones who they don’t want to have the money in the first place.
Paris is out on bail. They have been making examples of Paris and her type as of late by sending them to jail even if it hasn’t been for that long.

I see where your coming from & I would normally totally agree with you, but in this case we are dealing with someone who has repeatedly said “fuck the law” to the tune of 7-8 felonies on his record. Keep in mind that dude just got the break of a life time on those weapons charges so it’s almost impossible for any prosecutor worth being called one to not look at this guys record & say “no more!!”
Dude is on probation for *FEDERAL* weapons charges. It does not matter if he was smoking weed in a Maybach or a Dodge Caravan its just the audacity of breaking the law when you KNOW you are probation- specially on a federal charge.
Out there in Los Angeles little white celebrities like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan are indeed getting pulled over by the cops and true enough they dont face hard time for their assholery BUT they dont have federal gun charges hanging over their heads. So if Paris and Lindsay are getting pulled over you KNOW they have no problem pulling over T.I.’s ignorant azz.
“He’ll only be fined.” He shouldn’t be. His in blatant violation of his FEDERAL probation. That means that the feds can, and should, come in and violate his probation and send him back to prison to serve out whatever his original sentence would’ve been. Something tells me that it won’t happen, but at some point the prosecutors need to explain why is that this guy of all people in this country deserves yet another break??

I know that I’m going to get slammed for this, but HELL YEAH HIS ASS SHOULD GO BACK TO PRISON FOR VIOLATING PROBATION!!! This pisses me off because he just got away with a slap on the wrist for a crime that should’ve netted him 20 years. I have a friend that doing 5 years for being a 1 time felon that was caught with a bullshit rifle while T.I. who was a 7 or 8 time felon did 7 months inside after being caught with machine guns & silencers AND he was already on felony probation at the time of that arrest!!
I can’t wait to hear all of the excuses that people will make for him this time just like the excuses that folk made for him after getting such a small sentence for such a serious crime. “Oh he ain’t no snitch! He got too much money for the feds to lock him up like they would anybody else!” Bullshit!! There is no justification, other than becoming a snitch for the feds to receieve such a small sentence. Nobody goes from a 30 year sentence to a 1 year sentence with a fucked-up criminal record like he has without either know God personally or agreeing to cooperate.
I like T.I., but I want him to be treated just like anybody else for sure at this point. The excuse given for his “baby sentence” was that “he would be able to do more as a free man to encourage kids not to turn to a life of crime than he could in prison.” Well as we can see he’s doing a shitty job. His actions show that he has no respect for the law & no appreciation for being given another chance after 7-8 felony convictions. I say violate his probation & let him serve the sentence that his ass “somehow” scatted from before! Oh, and I’m sure Tiny will try to take this charge, but it won’t do any good because even if that were the case he had an obligation to get the fuck outta that car as soon as he knew about it. I don’t feel the least bit of compassion for this clown. If his ass is not sent back to prison then no one should ever respect our system of justice!
@Al-B i believe tiny will try to take the charge too even though that would be silly as hell for her because she is a mother & should be somewhere taking care of those kids she got but i’m sure being T.I.’s ride or die chick is more important than motherhood. SMDH!
If she were to take the charge she wouldn’t get any prison or jail time. It would only be a misdemeanor for her. But like I said, it won’t make any difference because T.I. knew that illegal activity was going on & he had a duty to get away from there by any means damn-near.

I feel you on that, but smoking in a hotel room ain’t no good either. That shit escapes into the hallway & it lingers in the room even after you checkout.
When you smoke in a hotel room, you should always do it in the bathroom. Turn on the shower, & the steam dissipates the smell & the smoke. Of course this won’t work if you’re trying to smoke an half ounce, and there’s always the maids that are cleaning the rooms everyday.
Getting back to TI and Tiny’s stupid asses though. I don’t have a problem with folks smoking weed. As far as I’m concern if alcohol is legal, weed should be also.
I would much rather be driving on the road with someone that is buzzed off of weed, than someone driving drunk. But bottom line is that TI was arrogant and stupid as hell to be driving around anywhere while smoking knowing he is on probation…. Just not a smart move Dude!

After hearing his interviews upon release from jail, I thought he had changed. I think he said something like, “I be done seent the liite”, or something like that. I guess that was all lip service

Why on Sunset though? For those who are not from Cali that is a very popular/traffic heavy street, especially at night. They should have known better than to be smoking on Sunset of all places. Cops stay patrolling that street.

Why does TI have to be treated like evrybody else? You make big money..you pay big money to get ur charges reduced or dropped. You don’t make the same money as erbody else. That’s why you’re treated differently…
The problem is that poor people don’t have a different set of laws than rich ones so he shouldn’t be allowed to ‘buy’ a reduction in charges.

My brother whom has never ever used drugs was charged with accessory to transport marijuana which was his first offense and he had to drug test randomly while on Federal probation. He did 9 months of a 18 month sentence at some federal facility in Las Vegas and it was more like a resort.
On a completely different note, I’m looking at the 7 year age difference and wondering if TI was legal when Tiny started messing with him.

My father taught me, since the system is stacked against me, not to give them a reason to arrest you. This lesson seemed to have gotten lost on a significant number of black men. Also, while I think weed should be legal, I have an issue with anyone using any type of drug while driving.
